Jim Kroft

Jim Kroft is a musician, filmmaker, and writer living in Berlin. For the past three years, he's been writing The Creative Life — a weekly letter for working artists and creators who take the practice seriously. Over 150 consecutive issues, nearly 3,000 readers, and he hasn't missed a week.

Before the letter, there were twenty years in the arts. He came up through the underground as a musician, releasing records on both major labels and independents, and has toured across the Trans-Siberian Express, East Africa, and China. He moved to Berlin in 2007 and in his thirties turned to filmmaking — six documentaries, including The March of Hope, which won fifty awards at festivals worldwide.

The Workstations are tools Jim built for people like him — artists, musicians, and writers facing the demands of "content creation" who would rather spend that time improving their craft and building artistic careers.

You can find his music and film work at jimkroft.com, or read the letter at The Creative Life on Substack.
